Transit (Gochar) Calculator

See today's planets placed over your own chart. For each planet you get the house from your lagna and from your Moon sign, whether the transit is favourable, and the big sign changes coming in the next 12 months.

Birth time is optional here. Add it if you know it, the result gets more exact.

How to read your transits

Gochar is traditionally read from your Moon sign, so that's the main number we show. A transit is marked favourable when the planet is in one of its good houses from the Moon, following Phaladeepika:

  • Sun 3, 6, 10, 11 · Moon 1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11 · Mars 3, 6, 11
  • Mercury 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11 · Jupiter 2, 5, 7, 9, 11
  • Venus 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12 · Saturn, Rahu and Ketu 3, 6, 11

The house from your lagna shows which area of life the planet is moving through. Slow planets matter most: Saturn (about 2.5 years per sign), Rahu and Ketu (18 months) and Jupiter (a year). The fast ones (Moon, Sun, Mercury, Venus) colour days and weeks. A transit works best when your dasha points the same way, so read the two together.

Questions people ask

Should I read transits from lagna or Moon?+

Classical gochar rules use the Moon sign. The lagna view shows which house is activated. We show both.

Which transits matter most?+

Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu, because they stay long in a sign. Saturn over your Moon is Sade Sati.

Does a bad transit mean bad results?+

Not by itself. Classical texts also list vedha (obstruction) points, and the dasha you're running often decides how a transit feels.

Do I need my birth time?+

For the Moon-based reading, usually not. For houses from lagna, yes.
