Why your birth panchang matters

Your janma tithi is used to celebrate a Hindu birthday (the day the same tithi returns in your birth month), your janma nakshatra decides your dasha and the first letter of a traditional name, and the yoga, karana and vara at birth are read in classical texts as part of your nature. The Vedic weekday changes at sunrise, so if you were born at 4 AM on a Tuesday, your vara is Monday.

Frequently asked questions

What is janma tithi?+

The tithi running at the moment you were born. Many families celebrate the birthday on that tithi each year.

Do I need my exact birth time?+

For tithi and nakshatra a rough time is usually fine, unless one of them changed near your birth. For the weekday near sunrise and the full kundli, an exact time helps.

How is this different from a kundli?+

A kundli maps all planets into houses. The birth panchang is the five limbs of the day. Both come from the same moment.
