KP Sub Lord Finder

Find the KP sign, star, sub and sub-sub lords for every planet in your chart and for all twelve Placidus house cusps.

How it works

In KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) each nakshatra of 13°20' is split into 9 unequal subs, sized by the Vimshottari years (Ketu 7, Venus 20, Sun 6, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19, Mercury 17, out of 120), starting from the nakshatra's own lord. Every point in the zodiac therefore has a sign lord, a star lord and a sub lord, and the sub is split again into a sub-sub. KP judges mostly by the sub lord.

House cusps are Placidus, as KP uses. We use the Lahiri ayanamsa; KP's own ayanamsa differs by about 6 arcminutes, which rarely changes a sub lord but can at a boundary. Cusp sub lords need an accurate birth time, often to the minute.

Questions people ask

What is a sub lord in KP?+

The lord of the small division (sub) a point falls in. KP uses the cusp sub lord to judge whether a house's matters will happen.

Why Placidus houses?+

KP was built on Placidus cusps. That's why its house cusps differ from whole-sign houses in Parashari astrology.

Why do my sub lords differ from another app?+

Usually a different ayanamsa (Lahiri vs KP new) or birth time. Cusp sub lords can change within a minute or two.

Do I need an exact birth time?+

Yes. Cusp sub lords are very sensitive to time.
