Why people check their mobile number
Your phone number is probably the number you share most often. It's on your visiting card, your UPI ID, your WhatsApp, every form you fill. Indian numerology treats any number you use this much as something that carries a vibration, and checking whether that vibration suits you has become one of the most common numerology questions, especially before buying a new SIM or picking a fancy number.
How the check works
There are three steps, and the calculator shows each one.
- Add the digits. Take all ten digits and add them. 98765 43210 gives 45.
- Reduce. Keep adding digits until one is left. 45 becomes 9. The full total (45 here) is also kept as the compound number, which has its own traditional note.
- Compare planets. 9 belongs to Mars. We then check how Mars gets along with the planet of your Mulank and the planet of your Bhagyank using the natural planet friendship table from Vedic astrology.
If the phone number's planet is a friend of at least one of your birth number planets and an enemy of neither, it's favourable. If it's an enemy of either one, we mark it not ideal. Anything else is neutral. We always show the reason, so you can see exactly which link made the difference.
Planet friendship in short
| Number | Planet | Friends | Not friendly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sun | Moon, Mars, Jupiter | Venus, Saturn |
| 2 | Moon | Sun, Mercury | none |
| 3 | Jupiter | Sun, Moon, Mars | Mercury, Venus |
| 5 | Mercury | Sun, Venus | Moon |
| 6 | Venus | Mercury, Saturn | Sun, Moon |
| 8 | Saturn | Mercury, Venus | Sun, Moon, Mars |
| 9 | Mars | Sun, Moon, Jupiter | Mercury |
Rahu (4) is read like Saturn and Ketu (7) like Mars, which is common practice in Indian numerology. Planets not listed as friends or enemies are neutral.
Picking a new number
If you're about to choose a new number, look at the "numbers that suit you" line in your result. Those are totals whose planets are friendly to your birth numbers without clashing with either. When the shop or app shows you a list of available numbers, add up the digits of a few and pick one that lands on a good total. It takes a minute and costs nothing extra.
Some people also prefer numbers that include digits missing from their Lo Shu grid, or avoid numbers with many repeated 8s or 4s. Those are extra preferences. The total is the main rule in most Indian numerology, and it's what we follow here.
Should you change your number?
Honestly, only if you were going to anyway. Changing a number people have known for years has real costs: bank alerts, OTPs, clients who can't reach you. A "not ideal" result is a nudge, not an emergency. Many people with neutral or not ideal numbers do perfectly well. If you're running a business and changing the number is easy, then sure, pick one that suits you.

Frequently asked questions
How is mobile number numerology calculated?+
Add all 10 digits of the number and reduce to one digit. For 98765 43210: total 45 → 9 (Mars). Then we compare Mars with the planets of your Mulank and Bhagyank.
Should I include +91 or the country code?+
No. Use only the 10-digit number you share with people.
What makes a mobile number lucky?+
When its planet is friendly with the planets of your Mulank and Bhagyank. If one of them is an enemy planet, we mark it as not ideal.
My number is 'not ideal'. Should I change it?+
Only if you were planning to anyway. Changing a number has real costs. If you do pick a new one, aim for a total from the list of numbers that suit you.
Do repeated digits or 0 matter?+
Some methods look at patterns like many 8s or many 0s. We keep it simple and use the total, which is the method most Indian numerology sites follow.
Is this the same for landline or WhatsApp numbers?+
Yes, the same rule works for any number you use a lot.
